This heavy, large surface-area pin isn’t cheap but plain steel is not an option here. The 3/4” diameter pin in combination with its bronze bearings will last a life time.

17.5 Degree Angle
An esthetically pleasing angle in keeping with today’s truck cab styling, it also matches the 17.5 degree angle of System One racks. Matching the truck’s cab angle results in a pleasing, contiguous look as opposed to the rectangular profiles that appear boxy and antiquated. Furthermore, the large, graceful radius that serves as the transition from the front to the top adds significantly to the strength of the box. .

Locked and Unlocked Symbols
Just a nice, no cost, extra built into the latch casting. At a glance you can tell whether your box is locked or unlocked – simple, uncomplicated and convenient.

Double Sided Key
How often have you had trouble remembering which way the key is supposed to go in? We chose these locks above other weather proof locks because they use a double sided key that fits in either way. Another convenient, user-friendly feature. |
Oversized Latch Handle |
| We didn’t mind putting a lot of design effort into a tough latch mechanism since that’s where so many other truck boxes fail. The first thing that we realized was that we needed a really big, useful handle. It had to be sized for a large hand with a glove on it, as opposed to the undersized paddle or t-handle mechanisms seen so often elsewhere. |

3/16” (.188”) Cast Aluminum Ends
These aluminum ends are cast from 413 F aluminum alloy, a very strong and resilient material. They are a minimum thickness of 3/16” (.188”) throughout except where extra aluminum reinforcement was cast in where needed. The bronze bearings are pressed into large, machined bosses. The support area for tool box hangers or legs is about 1/2” in thickness. Weather proofing flanges between the lid and base castings mate with one another to form a tight seal to keep the elements out. Our cast aluminum ends also allow a graceful transition with the sheet metal eliminating sharp corners. Also provided on the cast ends are drill bit centering holes that align a drill bit with a pre-existing hole in the reinforced mounting area, so that only 1/16” of material needs to be drilled through. The enclosed instructions indicate which hole to use.
