Will installing a Full Access™ tool box allow enough clearance for the work winches on my System One rack?

Full Access™ boxes are designed specifically to work with System One racks. The height of the box closed is 16 3/4” and the open height is 19”. The boxes will clear work winches on racks using 26-1/2” and taller legs. This means all full size trucks will qualify, except 2004 and later new style Ford F150 (which use 24-1/2” legs) . These shorter legs can be retrofitted to 26-1/2” (if you already own the rack) or if you are buying the rack and a box at the same time the rack can be provided with 26-1/2” legs for clearance.

Can I buy just the truck tool box now and buy an interior later?

Yes – you can buy an interior, or any part of an interior at any time.

Are Full Access™ truck tool boxes easy to install?

These truck boxes are extremely easy to install. They have been designed and built with ease of installation in mind. Oblong mounting holes are provided in the front edge of the box. This means fewer holes to drill, and the fact that they’re oblong means there is some adjustability in and out.

If you have a System One rack no holes need to be drilled into your truck at all. The front edge of the truck box is mounted to carriage bolts that you simply slide into the t-slot of the track which runs the full length of the bed rail. The rear of the box is suspended with tool box hangers that are bolted to the underside of the Heavy I.T.S. gusset of the rack. It’s a simple installation that takes only a fraction of the time compared to other racks and boxes.

On trucks with other than System One racks or with no racks at all, you will have to drill holes into the top of the bedrail to mount the box. In addition, you will have to drill holes in the floor of the bed (and through the bed liner if you have one) to mount the legs that support the rear of the boxes.

What if I don’t have a System One rack?

A Full Access™ truck tool box is still easier to mount to your truck than a conventional box. The punched oblong mounting holes eliminate the need to drill holes in the box. Because these holes are oblong (5/16” x 1”), it means that you can adjust the position of the box in or out a little. You still have to drill holes through the top of your bedrail.

Legs will be needed to support the rear of the box from the floor unless you can fasten it somewhere to your existing ladder rack. You will need to drill mounting holes for the legs in the floor of the bed (and through the bedliner if you have one). Legs for Full Access™ boxes are made from 3/8 x 2” 601B aluminum alloy and supplied with all the hardware needed to mount the toolbox to a truck. Because the depth of the truck beds vary so much, the upper end of the leg is not drilled – you need to mark the appropriate location for an upper mounting hole and drill it.

How is a Full Access™ Tool Box installed on a System One ladder rack?

Full Access™ truck toolboxes mount very easily to System One ladder racks. No drilling into the rack or truck is necessary. You simply slide the carriage bolts (provided) into the T-slot in the System One Trak. The pre-punched toolbox mounting holes line up with the bolts in the Trak and the box is lowered over the studs and fastened there. The inner portion of the box is suspended using tool box hangers, eliminating the need for support legs which obstruct cargo. The Tool Box Hanger kit includes all the hardware (stainless steel) needed to mount the toolbox to a System One rack. Drill point centering indents are provided on the box ends. These indents are aligned with holes on the inside of the box. All you have to do is drill through approximately 1/16 of aluminum to “break into” the hole behind. Instructions describe which of the holes to use for your application. On trucks with other ladder racks or no racks at all, toolbox legs are used. These legs are made from 3/8” x 2” aluminum and are fastened to the toolbox ends as described above and to the floor of the truck.
